Scope and Contents
This collection contains materials related to From The Mind’s Eye, both from the exhibition and the unreleased documentary. The collection consists of two boxes. One box contains paper materials; each folder contains a transcript of a filmed interview or a related event that was recorded during the course of the production of the documentary. The second box includes the audiovisual and related elements used to create and distribute the documentary.

Biographical / Historical
Originally called “From the Mind’s Eye: American Self-Taught Art of the Twentieth Century,” the project was conceived as a three part program: an exhibition, audio and video documentaries, and educational activities. The exhibition was renamed "Self-Taught Artists of the 20th Century: An American Anthology." The dates of the exhibition were March 10, 1998 - May 17, 1998. From the Mind’s Eye was a film directed by Nigel Noble and produced by Claudia Polley. It was initially conceived under a grant from the Lila Wallace-Reader’s Digest Fund.

Abstract
This collection consists of paper and moving image materials for the film From the Mind’s Eye. The film was directed by Nigel Noble and produced by Claudia Polley. These interviews and the footage produced were meant to coincide with the exhibition "Self-Taught Artists of the 20th Century: An American Anthology.”
Arrangement
Materials in this collection are separated into two boxes by type. Paper material is stored in multiple folders one box and audiovisual formats are stored in individual respective containers in the other. The original audiovisual containers have notations from the film crew such as numbers, sticker labels, and descriptive text.
